What is SISTEM? SISTEM is the Student Inter-Society Tech & Enterprise Meetup. An annual technical conference for students across the Isle of Ireland. This year’s conference was held on Saturday, the 26th of February, in UCD’s O’Brien Centre for Science. It was also possible to attend online via the Hopin Platform. UCD’s O’Brien Centre for Science, Exterior. UCD Conferences. Over the past 5 or so months, I helped organise SISTEM as I am the current treasurer of DU Netsoc which is an ex-officio member of the organisation committee.
Introduction Something I try to do every year is examine how I approach work and productivity and what changes I need to make to be more effective into the future. This process doesn’t normally coincide with the calendar year, as I am still a full-time student, however this year I’m breaking from my norm, as I am definitely in need of change. This sort of annual re-examination takes two shapes, one being workflow and the other mindset.
I didn’t think this needed to be said; however, clearly, it does. There’s a group of students in TCD attempting to found a student society revolving around the promotion and use of cryptocurrencies. This society isn’t interested in the technology behind it. That would be covered by the likes of DUCSS, anyway. They’re purely interested in the speculative/economic aspect of cryptocurrencies and NFTs (which I would consider as SMF’s territory).
